Today, I woke up at 8:20am for church. Pretty early for weekend, even for Sunday. I had to do snacks, and my dad was basically the only one who could send me to church and on time, since my mom has o pick up this old lady and sometimes David Dong. But we had to leave by 8:45 anyways, since my dad had to pick up Joey and Julia after dropping me off at church...
I forgot my Bible, since it's usually on the kitchen counter, and I didn't want to keep my dad waiting. Apparently it was in my room. Oh well.
I might have arrived a little early (9:00am) but I'm not sure...Oh well, I guess it was okay. Didn't feel as tired once I got up and going. I was the only one in the kitchen...I thought some other people were supposed to be there, helping with the tea and coffee and stuff. And Winston was supposed to help with snacks too...But Phillip helped later on, so I guess it doesn' really matter. As long as it got done.
When I was just starting to se up snacks and stuff, Lydia Yuen (our church's secretary, I think) came up to me and told me how I was such a "responsible, mature young lady." Then she hugged me. It was weird. Kind of random. I don't really like hugs. Unless they're the chocolate kinds. The white chocolate swirled wih milk chocolate Hershey kisses.
Afer we got done with snacks, we went ino the sanctuary. Don't think we missed much, besides singing. After offering, Pastor Manning gave a children's sermon about baptism. He told the kids to mess up and color a paper towel with markers. It represented a sinner's heart, someone who didn't have Jesus. And it had Bryan Peng's name in the corner, since he was getting baptized. He covered the dirty towel with red cloth, which represented Jesus's blood washing away sins. Then when he took away the red cloth, there was a clean, whitee towel that had Bryan's name on it. Just as I had predicted he would do when he told the children to mess up the paper towel. Then we had pastoral prayer, and Pastor Manning gave a short sermon about how God changes people's hearts and the importance of testimony after that. Then Bryan gave his testimony. Then we sang "He Knows Me By Name." Then Bryan got baptized. Then we all clapped. Then we sang "Hosanna." Then Pastor Manning gave the benediction. Then we went to have snacks.
I think I should've brought more snakcs. I had orginally thought that it would be enough, but apparently it wasn't really. Everything was gone in like ten seconds. I brought the almond and tea cookies. Apparently Cris saw the difference between the tea and almond cookies, and really liked the almond ones. He took like six or seven lol.
I brought cards, so I played speed with Shawn. Then we played Big Three. It was pretty fun. It wasn't that confusing actually. I mean, it just seems weird because what we learned is the way we've always played. So basically one just needs to think of it as a separate game, not as the reverse of Big Two. After all, if someone had learned to play "Big Three," then tha person would find "Big Two" really confusing. Anyways, I won. Yay. lol. Then we played Big Two. Won a couple times too.
Then we had to clean up the snack area. Then we went to Sunday school.
We continued our talk about making choices that are in the "gray area." The E's. Expedience, Edification, Excess, Enslavement, Encroachment, Equivocation, Example, Emmulation. And one other one, except we didn't get to that part, because we were let out early (at 12:15, so that we could eat lunch) for helping setting up fo the Easter play. Anyways, somehow the discussion went to the topic of intimacy between boyfriend and girlfriend. It was weird. And awkward. Wtf there's something wrong with the "t" key on my keyboard. Mrs. Chou said that we shouldn't get farther than holding hands. And maybe not even that far. Because of "diminishing effect," which is like after the "excitement" of holding hands is gone, you'll want more excitement, which leads to hugging, then to kissing...And then someone said that boys have more desire/want more excitement than girls. Which is probably generally true. But it was, again, awkward. We just all laughed. SInce it was awkward. And we all thought it was weird. lol. Whatever.
After we ate (the lunch was the best kind we have for lunch, meatballs and potatoes/zucchini/carrots), we played some more Big Two. I won a couple of times then too. We played cards because we were waiting for third service to end.
Then we got stuff from the basement and brought it to the sanctuary and started setting up. The pain from the well was fading in some parts and it was starting to fall apart, so some people duct-taped it. Then we took the spray paints and the well to the field next to the church and I spray painted it gray, since we couldn't find the stone color one, while Judy and Lily organized the spray paints and put the caps with the appropriate containers, since before the caps and cans were mismatched. Then after we brought it inside, we stuck the cardboard bricks onto the sides of the steps. Then Josh and I went up to the place where the baptism takes place to ape up the backdrop. While Matt was being annoying and pounding at the door.
Then we had to leave. Shawn also came with us to play basketball. And the guy who repaired our house followed us on the way home. He finished repairing our house and played basketball with Allen and Shawn. I didn't feel like playing. Watched end of Spurs vs Cavaliers game. Cavs pWned the SPurs. Spurs were doing really poorly.Tim Duncan only scored like 6 pts. Then I watched the first half of the Suns-Mavericks game. High-scoring, fast-paced, and quick points. Suns needed to win this game. If they didn't win, then they would have no chance to be in the playoffs. It would basically take a miracle for Suns to get into the playoffs now, since they lost. Quite epically too. Suns were leaeding at first, and their bench was doing great, but crap happened and Suns lost momentum or just didn't really want to win or something that made them play so horribly. I wanted the Suns to win. Although I don't really like them. I don't like the Mavericks either. Jason Kidd passed Magic Johnson for third place in number of assists. One of his 16 assists before first half included an inbound to Jason Terry at 2.something seconds, and Jason Terry just shot the ball from more than 3-4ths court, and made it! And Kidd got credited with that assist. lol. Mavs had 100 points in the third quarter with more than 4 minues left in the quarter. That's one less than Cav's final score agaisnt the Spurs.
Oh, during halftime, they showed one of the commentators' top five favorite Shaq moments. One of them including when Shaq broke the backboard in 1993 or something like that. Lol. Oh yeah, Suns missed their first three free pointers. ANd Shaq got an airball on one of his freethrows. Another time, the ball kissed the rim (as in it hit the front of the rim). And I thought I sucked at free throws....Shaq really needs to work on his free throws -_-
After that, I retreated to my room for most of the time. Then went downstairs for dinner. Didn't eat much. We had leftovers. Then went back into my room.
We have a four-and-a-half-day week this week! I'm rather excited. Means more sleep! Yay. Lol.
I hope this week will be good.
"No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nore demons, neither the present nore the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:37-39
